thanks so much to all of the amazing folks from the boston community who contributed to my travel fund for The International Drag King Extravaganza (IDKE.8). whether you bought a tie, a raffle ticket, a sex favor, donated $100 to have me cook you dinner (jeezus, i still owe the folks from 2005 their's! and now i owe the 2006 winners too!) or came to a show and tipped me generously, THANK YOU from the bottom of my mustachioed heart. i truly appreciate the support.

i left boston and drama that was happening around my shows, TraniWreck and Wreckage, and the venue that had been our home for 2+ years and went off to Austin, TX to be with most of the international dragster community. i kind of dreaded having to explain to folks what was happening back home...and they DID ask...people from all over the US and Canada and a few from Germany were there and they know about the shows here (which makes me very happy). but thankfully, everytime i talked about it i got new perspective and support from amazing performers that i love and respect and it helped relieve a lot of my anxiety around the changes i was going to come back to boston to deal with. and THAT is what community is about, dammit!

my time in austin was AMAZING. you austin folks really know about hospitality and love and how to put great shit together! i got to host a humungous show on friday night with my pal kate messer and some other awesome kings. we had some really inspiring and important discussions about race and performance which i learned a ton from and found energizing. there are a million highlights. looking at the photos brings them all back to me. i'm sorry it took so long to process them, but i'm happy to end the year thinking about the magic that happened in Austin. you people are so spectacular!

SO! HAPPY NEW YEAR FOLKS. I LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU IN VANCOUVER!
